International Electric Vehicle Summit Dublin

Fully Charged 2012 is a one-day satellite event of the prestigious Euroscience Open Forum 2012,
and both are highlight events in the 2012 calendar as Dublin plays host to the City of Science. At
this Summit a panel of high profile speakers will provide delegates with an insight into the latest
developments in electric vehicles and provide a platform to communicate the successes and strides
being made across the electric vehicle spectrum. Emerging technologies and innovations in new
product development, as well as the latest electric vehicles, will be showcased. As a Green eMotion
event, it will bring together many of the 42 partners who are involved in this four year, Europe-wide
project.

Marie Curie Actions Conference
Tuesday 10th & Wednesday 11th July 2012 – Convention Centre Dublin
As in previous years, the Marie Curie Actions will hold two-day satellite event ahead of the main ESOF
Conference. The conference will take place on 10-11 July 2012, and will be open to all current Marie
Curie Fellows.
This year’s programme will address several aspects of the Marie Curie Actions, such as the added
value of researchers in the European Economy, and a showcase of the best projects in innovation
and social innovation. We will propose several workshops on Communications and encourage Marie
Curie Fellows to take an active role. Finally, we will provide some insights on the future of Marie Curie
Actions under Horizon 2020. You will receive a link from your coordinator or REA officer inviting you

PDA Conference
Making Gene and Cell Therapy Medicines a Reality
Tuesday 10th & Wednesday 11th July 2012 – The Gibson Hotel Dublin
The theme of this conference is ‘Making Gene and Cell Therapy Medicines a Reality’. This is a jointly
organised event between the Parenteral Drug Association (PDA) and the Irish Medicines Board (IMB),
in a first time association. The focus of the conference will be to outline the regulatory framework and
challenges of translating the exciting basic science discoveries related to molecular and cell biology
into novel, commercial gene and cellular therapies.

The EUSEA Annual Conference 2012
Monday 9th – Wednesday 11th July 2012 – The Gresham Hotel Dublin
The sessions of the EAC12 offer mainly two different possibilities to create new opportunities for the
organisations of the participants: (1) experts from the European Commission, from research/science
and from industry will present their new ideas, new projects and new opportunities for cooperation,
and (2) an extension of the useful coffee breaks by implementing interesting, novel structured
sessions to meet as many participants as possible in a direct way for collecting and discussing new
ideas, joint project – and sharing experiences.

The Robert Boyle Summer School
The Robert Boyle Summer School will run this summer from the 15th – 18th July 2012 at his birthplace, Lismore Heriatge Town, Co Waterford. Ireland has for many years had several highly successful summer schools celebrating figures from literature and music and now there is one to celebrate one of the most important figures in the history of science, Robert Boyle.
The summer schools will be a place where scientists and non-scientists can meet and discuss matters relating to science and consider the place of science in our culture. This year is a special year to celebrate: it is the 350th anniversary of the publication of “Boyle’s Law” and the 15th July will be the 350th anniversary of the granting of the charter the Royal Society.
The dates of the festival will suit participants attending ESOF Dublin 2012. The organisers are pleased to announce that several of the leading Boyle scholars will be heading to Lismore including Michael Hunter, Birbeck College London, Michelle DiMeo, Georgia Tech, Kieth Moore, Librarian Royal Society. They will be joined by several scientists including Jonathan Ashmore FRS and Ingrid Hook. There will also be costumed recreations of Boyle’s most famous experiments and lots of other activities.

NET4SOCIETY: Active Ageing – the Potential for Society
Conference and Brokerage Event, 9-11 July 2012, Dublin Castle.
NET4SOCIETY, the network of National Contact Points, supporting and promoting Socio-Economic Sciences and Humanities (SSH) researchers’ engagement in FP7, will host a transnational research and brokerage event. The event will be themed around the 2012 European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations and will focus on the human and social aspects and implications of active ageing.
The event, targeted to approximately 350 researchers, policymakers and stakeholders from the international SSH community, will showcase a positive approach to ageing and its potential for society, presenting international SSH research in this field and identifying future research needs. Key note speakers include Anne-Sophie Parent, Director of the AGE network and Lenia Samuel from the European Commission’s Year for Active Ageing initiative. The third day of the conference will be dedicated to a structured brokerage event that will provide researchers and stakeholders with the opportunity to engage with the FP7 SSH research programme with special focus on the topics of the conference, with a view to finding potential partners for research projects in the FP7 SSH 2013 call.
